Recreation Passport
The Recreation Passport is required for all Michigan state parks, trails, historic sites, boat launches, harbors, and more. Visit Michigan.gov/RecreationPassport for more details and to purchase.
Hours
Quiet Hours: 10pm-8am. Overnight Lodging: Check-in 4pm, Check-out Noon. The park is open for activities year round. Day use area is open from 8am-10pm or dusk.
Shooting Range Hours
The ADA accessible Shooting Range is open year round: Thurs-Mon, 10am-5pm. Oct 1-30: Wed-Mon, 10am-5pm and Nov 1-15: Sun-Sat, 10am-5pm.
Park Amenities
The park offers eight miles of cross country skiing trails, seven miles of snowmobile trails, and 15 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails. Visitors can choose from both lake and stream fishing and two universally accessible piers make fishing available for everyone. Metal detecting is limited to clearly defined areas of the park. Contact the park for exact locations. Lower Trout Lake is enjoyed by swimmers while the north unit lakes are perfect for paddlers.
Alcoholic Beverages and Marijuana Use
Possession of alcoholic beverages by minors is strictly prohibited. Despite the change in law, the use of marijuana in public is still not legal or allowed.
Fireworks Are Not Permitted
Pets
Pets must be kept on a 6-foot leash and must never be left unattended. Please clean up after your animals. No animals on the beach.
Don’t Move Firewood! Help Protect our Michigan State Parks and Campgrounds!
Invasive insects and diseases have destroyed MILLIONS OF TREES in Michigan, often after hitching a ride on firewood. Purchase only certified heat-treated firewood at the park or nearby vendors. If you don’t use it all, don’t transport it or take it home with you. Campfires are permitted only in designated fire rings. Never leave a campfire unattended.
