Stormcloud Brewing Company is a destination brewery and pub along the Gold Coast of Lake Michigan in Frankfort. They were awarded “Brewery of the Year 2022” at the USA Beer Ratings, and one visit will show you why.
Stormcloud is known for crafting “Belgian inspired beer in the time-honored Belgian brewing tradition of ignoring time honored brewing traditions.” With a solid line up of traditional Belgian-style brews, IPAs, lagers, experimental beer, and an up-and-coming sour program (Lakehouse Ales Project), there is something for every beer lover’s palate. In addition to beer, they also serve local cider and wine, as well as a large array of nonalcoholic beverages.
With two locations – a downtown pub on Main Street and a taproom right off M-115 as you approach downtown Frankfort – avid beer lovers can easily plan to stop at both! The Parkview Taproom offers cold beer in a relaxed setting with both indoor and outdoor seating, a food truck, and regular live music. Stormcloud’s downtown pub is where to visit for some of the same great brews on tap served inside or out in their covered open-air beer garden along Frankfort’s friendly Main Street. This summer, the outdoor beer garden has expanded to include new outdoor taps and more seating.
Stormcloud is always a buzz with locals and visitors, and with their downtown pub location just a few blocks from the beach, they offer many “beach friendly” (no glass) modes of getting beer to go, including stainless steel growlers, aluminum crowlers, and 12oz cans in four or six-packs.
In addition to their year-round distributed beer, they also have two limited offerings for Summer 2023, including the return of their SUNRUNNR Ale and the newly-distributed 31 Planes Double IPA. SUNRUNNR is a summer ale with hints of orange nectar and apricot. With its lower ABV, SUNRUNNR is versatile and universally drinkable, as well as suitable for all types of summer foods. 31 Planes has a bit of a local cult following, and Stormcloud is excited to now share this hoppy, resinous, and tropical ale across the state of Michigan.
If you’re looking for a superb dining location in Frankfort, Stormcloud’s downtown pub is not to be missed. Ingredients for many dishes are sourced locally, and include delicious appetizers, flatbread pizzas, soups, salads, and sandwiches.
